In 2023 I created this poster for the call for artists of the first edition of ‘ICONS’ promoted by Cheap Bologna.
The first edition of ICONS is dedicated to His Majesty, David Bowie. ICONS is addressed to those who deal with visual languages: it does not matter the medium but only the portrait of the icon that is translated on the poster and that CHEAP has set up in the streets of Bologna.
With more than 50 years of honourable service, Bowie embodied a galaxy of personas, defining styles and crossing genres, performing imagery that shattered existing paradigms: Starman, White Duke, pop talent, glam icon, rock'n'roll suicide, Goblin King, hero for a day, vampire, fallen man on Earth, Ziggy, Agent Jeffries, Lazarus, absolute beginner.
My interpretation of David Bowie brings out his freshness, his colours and the messages he conveys to me by listening to him, a complete and living figure who often changed and became something new and then repeated the cycle of the evolution of his character and person. Listening to and singing ‘Changes’ all this comes to me.
"Ch-ch-ch-changes (Turn around and face the strange)
Ch-ch-ch-changes I don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-changes (Turn around and face the strange)
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes I'll just have to be a different man
Time can change me But I cannot determine its course."
